Invisalign®

Invisalign®

If you want to straighten your smile but aren’t crazy about the idea of metal or clear ceramic braces, Invisalign® treatment may be the solution you need.

Invisalign® is a modern, convenient and aesthetic solution for patients who don’t want the appearance of braces. It comprises a series of clear aligner trays that will guide the movement of your teeth. Gradually, we will adjust the positioning of your teeth.

What are the benefits of Invisalign®?

Unlike traditional braces, Invisalign® will not bond to your teeth, making them a removable treatment option. Additional benefits of Invisalign include:

  • Easy teeth cleaning: By removing your aligner, you can easily brush and floss your teeth to improve oral health.
  • No dietary restrictions: Unlike braces, you can eat crunchy or chewy foods after removing your Invisalign without the worry of breaking your device.
  • Increased comfort: Your aligners’ soft, flexible material will increase your comfort without irritating your mouth.
  • Protection from teeth-grinding: If you grind your teeth at night, your Invisalign® aligners will act as a nightguard to protect your teeth.

WELCOME TO THE FUTURE OF ORTHODONTICS

Never worry about hiding your metal braces from colleagues, classmates, friends, or family. Invisalign is here to give you a straighter smile without tipping off others in the process.

The Invisalign® treatment system begins by taking a high-resolution 3D digital scan of your occlusion using advanced computing technology. We then carefully evaluate your current dental alignment and determine your unique plan for your future smile.

We will start making your clear aligners – invisible trays that snugly fit your teeth.
Each aligner is made from a strong, clear plastic that fits around your teeth and applies gentle pressure against them to encourage their movement. In order to precisely control each individual tooth movement, we will need to place ‘attachments’ [link here to section ‘What are attachments?’] on specific teeth. This is done during the first stages of your Invisalign treatment.

Your treatment will consist of a series of aligners, each aligner having an ‘in-built’ tooth movement change. Every two weeks or so, you’ll progress to the next aligner until you begin to reach the end of your aligners. At this stage, we will then re-scan your teeth to produce the next set of ‘refinement aligners’ until your teeth are re-aligned exactly as you want them to be.

One huge benefit to this system is that it allows you to remove the aligners when necessary (for example, while eating, playing instruments, or participating in sports) and pop them right back in when you’re ready. We always recommend that you wear your Invisalign® aligners for at least 20 hours a day for the best results.

What are attachments?

Attachments are tooth-colored “bumps” that are bonded to the teeth using dental composites. They will be placed at precise locations to allow the aligners to grip the teeth as they are guiding them to their new locations. They can range from small difficult to feel attachments to fairly large attachments, the size and shape reflecting the tooth movements required.

Once the attachments are in place you may want to spend a little bit of time getting used to placing and removing the aligners. The attachments will make the aligners fit more snugly to the teeth, so it may take a bit of practice.
